Baliozian Essayan House

The structure consists of four adjacent three-story blocks and is a rather rare style in Kordon, Izmir. While we know little of the building’s origins, the common opinion is that a group of relatives opted for such unique architecture. The registry of 1889 indicates that the parcel belonged to the two wealthy Armenian families in Izmir, the Baliozian and Essayan families. On the side of the parcel facing the 2nd Kordon there were smaller houses that were likely meant for lease. The building was destroyed in the 1922 fire.
